What does it mean to be one particular individual and not another?
Where does one person begin and another end?
The metaphor of Indra’s net from Indian philosophy describes reality as an infinite network of jewels. Each one reflects the rest in a never-ending fractal of mutual mirrors. The intersection of each thread represents an individual and the optical illusion of being separate, even though it is nothing more than a part of a living universe. Part of the whole, connected to everything.
Mushrooms embody the essence of individuality and connectedness: on the one hand, each mushroom symbolises a unique entity that is a distinct manifestation of life; on the other hand, hidden beneath the surface lies a complex web of interconnected mycelium. It underscores the seamless integration of the individual into the vast, living landscapes of the ecosystem.
